Port-Crosis a national park in France, which is located on one of the islands southeast of Toulon. On the archipelago, on the island of Porquerolles, there is also abotanical reserve.
Getting into the park is not easy; no more than five thousand people can visit theisland per day, and only one and a half thousand people can visit Port-Cros.
We recommend going with a guide for a walk through the park: there is an extensive system of walking paths, many of which run along the picturesque forts destroyed by time, ancient buildings around the port of Port-Cros. A large partof the path allows you to get acquainted with the natural attractions of theisland: dense groves of hard-leaved shrubs, fields overgrown with lavender and heather.
The island of Porquerolles boasts no less wonderful landscapes. The most impressive views are from the old lighthouse, which is open to visitors from June to September, and from the surrounding cliffs.
There are also all kinds of walking routes, partly along the coastal cliffs, partly through heathland and dry maquis thickets, and partly directly through the Mediterranean Botanical Garden of Le Hameau.
The oldest building on Porquerolles, Chateau Sainte-Agathe, was built by order of King Francis 1 in 1531. The elevation difference on the island is very small.
The highest points slightly exceed one hundred meters. The coastline is replete with cliffsand crevices - one of the most famous is the Wolf's Throat Gorge (Gorge du Loup).
Several beaches, the nicest one is Plage de Notre Dame.
The mythical beach of Pampelonne is the pearl of the beaches of Saint-Tropez.
Nearly five kilometers of fine white sand separate the Mediterranean Sea from acres of scrub-covered dunes. It is a place of amazing natural beauty that offers a rural setting for the world's most glamorous beach party.
Guests can grab a bite to eat at one of the many beach clubs, such as Bistrot Bagatelle - completely French in atmosphere and cuisine, with classic Mediterranean cuisine, chic decor and live music, and caters to tourists, locals and foodies.
Not without a reason Frejus became one of the most popular holiday destinations on Coted’Azur. There you can find many magnificent beaches perfect for spending time in picturesque surroundings. Frejus beaches can be long and wide, small and secluded, sandy or pebble, lively or peaceful. Everyone will find a perfect one for sure!
The most popular Frejus beaches:
Plage de Frejus – a sandy beach located close to the Frejus Port, stretching for nearly 1 kilometer. It features nice views over Saint-Raphael and the mountains. There you’ll also find many amenities like on-site parking, toilets, or restaurants along the lovely palm-lined promenade behind the beach.
Plage de Saint-Aygulf – one of the largest Frejus beaches, located about 4 km west of the port. Its exposure to the wind makes it a popular windsurfing and kitesurfing spot. Many amenities are available – like parking, showers, toilets, a beachbar, and lifeguard.
Plage des Esclamandes – beautiful sandy beach with a nudist section located close to Saint-Aygulf beach. Loved by kitesurfers.
Plage de la Base Nature – a sandy beach located right next to Frejus Port. Thanks to shallow waters it’s considered perfect for families with kids.
Other nice beaches in Frejus: Plage de la Galiote, Plage du Pébrier, and Plage duPacha. In our opinion, there is no better thing to do in Frejus than hit the beach – no matter the time of theyear!
The Lérins Islands are an archipelago off the Côte d'Azur, consisting of two inhabited islands (Sainte-Margritte and Sainte-Honorat) and several uninhabited islands.
They were inhabited back in the era of Ancient Rome.
A monastery was founded here in the 5th century. Lérins Abbey is an important shrine in France; a considerable number of pilgrims come here.
The monastery is located on the island of Saint-Honorat, about 3 km from Cannes. The complex consists of several dozen architectural objects: towers, fortresses, churches, outbuildings.
They also grow oranges, grapes and lavender here. It is worth tasting local wine and several types of liquor.
Much more recently developed than Antibes, it's eastern neighbour, Juan-les-Pins became popular in the early decades of the 20th century, and during the 1920's played host to many celebrities, Ernest Hemingway and Charlie Chaplin among them.
The popularity continues to this day, and Juan-les-Pins is a very lively summer resort, with beach and sea related activities during the day giving way to the nightlife in the casino, clubs and bars - and in the streets - late into thenight.
While Antibes offers more of historical interest to visitors, Juan-les-Pins is better known for its beaches - the small Plage de Gallice and Plage Epi Hollywood beaches are both in the centre of Juan-les-Pins and very popular (although large sections of the beach are also private), with the longer main beach alittle to the west.
There are several restaurants on the beach itself in the centre of Juan-les-Pins, which is backed by various apartment blocks and hotels.
Historical note: it was at Golfe-Juan near Juan-les-Pins that Napoleon landed when returning from his exile to Elba prior to retaking control of the government - and his subsequent defeat at Waterloo.
The sunny seaside town of Antibes is one of the true gems of the French Riviera. With vast Mediterranean views, a picturesque old town, sandy beaches and a lavish marina, you can spend your days relaxing in beautiful surroundings. There’s plenty of history too, with historic fortifications and art from Picasso, meaning you’ll discover a great mix of things to do in Antibes.
