Šibenik is one of the most colorful towns in Central Dalmatia. Narrow winding streets of the Old Town, ancient buildings, sidewalks of stone polished over the centuries have turned this marvelous city into a an open-air museum. Here you will be able to go on a walk through the Old Town to admire its sacred architecture - there are more than a dozen ancient churches in the old town. The small, cozy town of Skradin on the KRKa River is located in the immediate vicinity of the KRKa National Nature Park, famous for its waterfalls and rich flora and fauna. Centuries later, the former Greek colony was taken over by the mighty Rome, and in the 8th century, Slavic tribes came to this area. During the Middle Ages, Vis and its surrounding lands were under the control of the Venetian Republic. And at the beginning of the century before last, in 1815, the political map of Europe once again changes its outlines, and ancient Vis becomes part of the Austrian Empire. The town has preserved its impressive historic buildings, and its undoubted dominant feature is the Franciscan Monastery, built in the 16th century.
